LAW STUDENT HURRICANE RELIEF NETWORK:
The legal questions and problems that face hurricane victims throughout the Gulf South are staggering in scale, and will continue for months and years. The enormity and longevity of this crisis demands the long-term attention of all facets of our nation's legal community. In order to help respond to this need and support entities which are working to address it, From the Lake to the River Foundation and Equal Justice Works announce the formation of the Law Student Hurricane Relief Network.
The Law Student Hurricane Relief Network will be an association of committed and focused law students who will work to bring the resources of their Law School communities to bear on the long-term legal aid and disaster relief effort. The network will: link students with pro bono opportunities with legal aid entities in the affected areas, identify research possibilities, and support other volunteer initiatives that students can participate in from their home institutions.
Institutional Liaisons Needed:
We are looking to identify student liaisons who will serve to lead teams of students from their home institutions in bringing the activities of the network to their law school communities. Students who are interested in serving as institutional liaisons for their community should contact Morgan Williams (Tulane Law School 2L) at katrinalegalaid@gmail.com with "INSTITUTIONAL LIAISON" in the subject line.
The Coalition seeks to bring together resources from all parts of the legal community (law school faculty, students, and practicing lawyers), as well as non-lawyers, to facilitate the fair distribution of federal, state, and private disaster relief to New Orleanians (wherever they may be) in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. We will also assist other groups that provide emergency legal services to those in need.

The road to recovery will be long -- we look forward to working with you in the coming weeks, months and years.
